Harbour hospice is seeking a medical practitioner to join their team at the palliative outcomes initiative (Poi) in New Zealand. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to meet the palliative care needs of patients both in the patient unit and within the community. The program enhances community access to palliative care by fostering collaboration between specialist, local GPs and residential care facilities. The candidate will be responsible for providing palliative care to patients and their families within the hospital. It must have ability to work 9-10 hours per week within the hospital. Applicants for this position must hold current practicing certificate from the medical council of New Zealand.
Qualifications for Medical Practitioner:
- Candidate must hold current practicing certificate from Medical council of New Zealand.
- Holds a current bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery degree.
- It must have at least 3 years working experience in the healthcare sector.
- Possess strong written and verbal, presentation and education skills.
- Experience and competence in working within a multicultural community.
Responsibilities :
- Candidate is responsible to conduct regular check-ups, health-risk assessments and screening tests.
- Ability to provide advice on health maintenance, disease prevention and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patients and medical record.
- Provide initial treatment and stabilization in emergency situations.
