Te Whatu Ora Health is actively seeking a psychiatry trainee to join their team at Whangarei hospital in New Zealand. The ideal candidate is responsible for conducting psychiatric assessments and evaluations of patients. Whangarei hospital is the largest population centre providing secondary care service. This secondary base hospital offers a broad spectrum of services, including an emergency department (ED), medical specialists, paediatrics and psychiatry. The candidate must be capable of delivering quality care within the hospital. For this position in the psychiatry department, candidates are required to have a doctorate degree in psychiatry. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range is $85,000 to $120,000 per year.
Responsibilities for Psychiatry Trainee:
- The candidate design and executes personalized treatment strategies for individual experiencing mental health challenges.
- Delivers crisis intervention and support to patients within acute psychiatric environments.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care for patient.
- Possesses the ability to monitor patients progress and adapt treatment plans.
- Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation.
Qualifications for Psychiatry Trainee:
- Candidate must holds a medical degree from a recognized institution.
- It must be registration as a medical practitioner with the medical council of New Zealand.
- It should possess postgraduate qualifications or certificate in psychiatry.
- Clinical experience gained from internships, residencies or prior work experience.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, empathy and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of cultural competence and commitment to providing culturally safe and responsive care.
