Silver Fern Farms Dargaville are looking for a motivated and skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our wider engineering team, responsible for the hands-on day to day electrical reliability improvements, repairs and maintenance within our strong, stable and progressive engineering team.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in projects and installation of new site equipment as well as a wide range of electrical applications across the site. About You:
Previous experience in FMCG or transferrable production environments would be an advantage, but the key is the ability to work as part of a team, to identify faults and use analytical and problem-solving skills to provide top level service to the processing plant. Working in a sole charge capacity, all the while being entrenched as part of a maintenance team, candidates will have good interpersonal skills and an attitude for getting stuck in to get the job done as well as thinking outside of the box – we appreciate and encourage new ideas and thought processes about how we can collaborate across our site to ensure the get to the root cause of issues and fix it right – first time. Our Takapau site in Central Hawke’s Bay is Silver Fern Farms largest dedicated lamb processing site, employing up to 950 people at the peak of the season. We are looking for motivated and skilled Maintenance Fitters/Engineers to join our engineering team who are crucial to keep our production running in a challenging, dynamic food production environment. You will be joining a team on the up and play a key role in implementing our vision for the Takapau site. Our site operates both day and evening shifts Monday to Friday as well as occasional overtime on weekends.
The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Relevant Trades Qualification (Level 4 Mechanical Diagnostics Engineer or Trade Qualified Fitter/ Turner)
- Good knowledge of sound engineering principals and repairs and maintenance procedures on a large industrial processing site – or a passion to learn in this environment.
- Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner and communicate this with those around you.
- Be self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a tight knit team of engineering specialists.
- Organized, with the ability to plan and priorities workload in a challenging engineering environment.
- Desire to keep learning and upskill – be this in a leadership scope or dual trading into other facets of the production engineering environment.
- Comfortable being on a roster-based shift pattern in a red meat processing environment out of our largest site in NZ in the beautiful central Hawkes Bay.
