As a Truck Driver, you will be part of the team that provides local delivery services to the Irving Shipyards and vendors, along with picking orders and forklifting operations. Box truck, Curtain Side truck and Tractor with 47’ trailer to be driven on a rotational basis. You will be responsible for monitoring truck maintenance and keeping driver’s records requirements such as daily check lists.Founded in 1882, J.D. Responsibilities

  • Deliver materials to Irving ship building sites and local vendor warehouses safety
  • Load/ unload product
  • Prepare trucks for loading and assist the warehouse staff as required
  • Ensure proper vehicle maintenance and safety
  • Maintain contact with supervisor and work to resolve any issues
  • Verify load security and accuracy
  • Report defects, violations, accidents, or injuries
  • Maintain a professional behavior
  • Follow all safety regulations, company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs
  • Proven work experience as a delivery driver
  • Valid Class 1 License
  • Drivers Abstract Required – will reimburse upon hire
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, fast paced and dynamic workplace
  • Ability to drive manual transmission is required
  • Self-Motivated, punctual, and reliable
  • Must have Safety mindset
  • High attention to detail
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Able to do physical work
  • All employees of Bayside Distribution must obtain and maintain a personal security clearance and controlled goods approval. To obtain these clearances the applicant must not have resided outside of Canada for a period of six months or more within the last five years. These clearances require police, employment and personal references.

About the Team

Bayside Distribution is a J.D. Irving company, and established roots in 2020 in Halifax Nova Scotia. The Bayside warehouse operation is a critical component of the Irving Shipbuilding supply chain, warehousing and shipping parts to build the Arctic Offshore Patrol Vessels and the new River Class Destroyers for the Royal Canadian Navy. Over the next 30 years Bayside will supply parts to build over 20+ ships for the Royal Canadian Navy as a part of the largest defense procurement project in Canadian History.
