Operator-Class 3 Job in GFL Environmental, Canada

The operator must ensure the proper functioning of all activities related to the collection of hazardous materials and also takes care of the treatment of contaminated water and soil, all under the supervision of the operations supervisor.

Main responsibilities

• Ensure the proper functioning of equipment connected to the wastewater treatment process.
• Check operating parameters and make any necessary adjustments.
• Receive customers and collect information necessary for operational compliance and invoicing.
• Conduct sampling and treatability testing. Inform Operations Supervisor when results are out of standard.
• Direct the unloading of arrivals on site according to the characteristics obtained from the treatability test.
• Perform minor repairs on process equipment.
• Carry out maintenance of the plant and equipment.
• Document the various parameters associated with soil treatment. Sample and make necessary adjustments to optimize treatment effectiveness.
• Carry out soil conditioning, construction and dismantling of biopiles used for the treatment of contaminated soils.
• Collect MDR from customers according to hazardous materials guidelines and regulations.
• Assist MDR operations with waste transshipment, box maintenance and container cleaning and inventory maintenance.
• Participate in equipment maintenance efforts during planned production shutdowns.
• Support management by ensuring that health and safety instructions are maintained.
• Perform any other related tasks required by the branch’s activities.

Experience

• Relevant experience, an asset;
• Completed 5th year secondary school diploma or a DEP;
• Possess basic mechanical and plumbing skills;
• Be able to work alone and in a team, with minimal supervision;
• Be available for emergency response;
• Hold a valid class 3 driving license.
• Be in good physical shape.
