About the Role

As a Truck Driver or Trainee Truck Driver, you’ll play a vital role in our open-pit mining operations at the KCGM Superpit. You’ll operate CAT 793 and 777 Haul Trucks, working alongside PC 8000 Face Shovels, Excavators, and Loaders to transport ore and waste safely and efficiently. This residential role, based in Kalgoorlie, follows a convenient 7/7 days and nights roster with 12-hour shifts, offering a balanced lifestyle. Trainees will gain hands-on experience across various areas, including the Fimiston Open Pit and Rehandle Ore Delivery, building skills for a long-term career in mining.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Operating Haul Trucks: Safely operate CAT 793 and 777 Haul Trucks to transport ore and waste to designated areas, meeting production targets.

  • Collaborating with Equipment Teams: Work in conjunction with face shovels, excavators, and loaders to ensure efficient operations.

  • Trainee Activities: Participate in tasks across the NSR-KCGM site, such as Fimiston Open Pit and rehandle areas, to build familiarity with mining environments.

  • Safety Compliance: Uphold Northern Star’s STARR Core Values, prioritizing safety and adhering to all safety protocols.

  • Team Contribution: Demonstrate teamwork, accountability, and respect while supporting the company’s long-term growth and development.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking motivated individuals with a strong desire to grow in the mining industry. Here’s what you’ll need:

Key Requirements:

  • Driver’s License: Current, unencumbered “C” Class Western Australian Manual Driver’s License.

  • Residency: Must reside in the Goldfields region for this residential role.

  • Physical Fitness: Ability to work 12-hour shifts with repetitive workloads.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal skills and a willingness to learn.

  • Pre-Employment Checks: Ability to provide a National Police Clearance and pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.

  • Passion for Growth: A commitment to contributing to Northern Star’s dynamic team and long-term success.

Desired (Not Essential):

  • Experience: Previous experience operating heavy machinery or working in mining is a plus but not required.
