Dairy Cattle Farm Worker

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily milking of dairy cattle, ensuring hygienic and efficient processes.

• Monitor herd health by observing animals for signs of illness or distress and reporting concerns promptly.

• Feed and water livestock, including preparing feed mixtures and monitoring consumption.

• Carry out general farm duties such as fencing, cleaning sheds, and maintaining farm equipment.

• Assist in calf-rearing, including feeding, health checks, and housing.

• Operate tractors, quad bikes, and other farm machinery safely when required.

• Maintain accurate records of livestock, feeding schedules, and production as directed.

• Follow all health, safety, and animal welfare standards set by the farm.

• Support seasonal farm activities, including calving, mating, and silage preparation.

• Work as part of a team to achieve daily and seasonal production goals.

Qualifications and Skills

• No formal qualifications required; training will be provided.

• Previous experience in dairy or livestock farming is an advantage but not essential.

• Good physical fitness and stamina to manage outdoor and physically demanding tasks.

• Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and during peak farming seasons.

• Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and show initiative.

• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• A positive attitude with a genuine interest in livestock care and dairy farming.

• Basic knowledge of farm machinery operation is desirable.
