AUTOSAR Engineer

An automotive technology company is seeking a Senior AUTOSAR Software Engineer to take a lead role in an Advanced Development Program focused on generating the initial AUTOSAR software only baseline for a next generation Electronic Control Unit platform. This is a senior hands on position requiring deep AUTOSAR configuration expertise and a strong understanding of automotive software architectures. You will serve as the primary AUTOSAR expert, collaborating closely with the Software Architect and a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to define, configure, integrate, and bring up the AUTOSAR stack and supporting software. If you have ten or more years of experience in automotive embedded software development and significant hands on experience with the AUTOSAR Classic Platform, this role offers the chance to shape early phase design decisions that influence downstream development. You will be instrumental in configuring Basic Software modules, generating the Runtime Environment, and aligning Microcontroller Abstraction Layer interfaces for early software release. This is not a theoretical position; you will lead configuration, integration, and bring up in a fast paced advanced development environment.

Company Overview

The employer is a leading automotive or mobility company, likely an original equipment manufacturer or a major tier one supplier. They are developing next generation safety critical systems, possibly in domains such as occupant sensing, airbag systems, or other automotive control applications. The engineering culture values collaboration across global cross cultural teams. They follow ASPICE processes and ISO 26262 functional safety standards. The work environment is highly technical, with access to Vector DaVinci toolchains, CANalyzer, CANoe, and static analysis tools. You will work alongside architects and building block developers to resolve interface and configuration alignment issues. This is an opportunity to contribute to a platform that will be used in future vehicle programs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead configuration, integration, and bring up of the AUTOSAR architecture including MCAL, BSW, and RTE for an advanced development program software only release

  2. Work closely with the Software Architect to interpret high level architecture and translate it into AUTOSAR configurations and component definitions

  3. Collaborate with the Embedded Software Engineer to ensure internally developed building block modules integrate cleanly into the AUTOSAR environment

  4. Configure BSW modules including communication stack for CAN, diagnostics, memory services, watchdog, operating system, and ECU state management

  5. Maintain and manage AUTOSAR toolchains using Vector DaVinci or other specified tools

  6. Perform RTE generation and ensure proper interface alignment for application components

  7. Support early stage debugging, integration, and issue resolution across the AUTOSAR stack

  8. Conduct static analysis, configuration validation, and support verification and quality assurance activities

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. You must have ten or more years of experience in automotive embedded software development. Significant hands on experience with the AUTOSAR Classic Platform is essential, including MCAL, BSW, ECU Abstraction, OS configuration, RTE generation, communication stack for CAN and LIN, diagnostics stack covering UDS, DCM, and DEM, power management, and memory services. Strong expertise with Vector DaVinci or similar AUTOSAR toolchains is mandatory. Experience integrating application software into an AUTOSAR system and resolving interface, RTE, and configuration alignment issues is required. A strong embedded C background for debugging AUTOSAR related implementation issues is necessary. Familiarity with TriCore, S32, Renesas, or similar microcontrollers is expected. Hands on experience with CANalyzer or CANoe for communication analysis and validation is required. Experience with static analysis tools, configuration validation, and unit testing is needed. Understanding of ASPICE processes and basic functional safety concepts per ISO 26262 is expected. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential. Preferred experience includes occupant sensing, airbag systems, or other safety critical automotive domains, as well as prior involvement in advanced development or platform bring up.

Benefits and Perks

This full time position offers an annual salary range of USD 130,000 to USD 170,000 depending on experience, which is the current market rate for a senior AUTOSAR engineer with ten plus years. You will work in a hybrid or onsite environment depending on the specific location. The company provides comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k retirement plan with company match, paid time off, and holidays. Professional development opportunities include access to the latest AUTOSAR toolchains and training. You will gain experience shaping a next generation ECU platform from its earliest phases. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
