Head of Internal Audit of Hong Kong

Sun Life Hong Kong needs a Head of Internal Audit to drive a strong control environment. This full time role oversees audits for all Hong Kong entities. You will manage the audit portfolio on a day to day basis. You will lead and deliver audits across the Life and Health and Wealth and Pension businesses. In addition, you will report to local boards and management. You will coach a team of professionals and report functionally to the AVP of Internal Audit. You will also support the Regional Head of Audit on strategic initiatives. If you have a university degree in Accounting or Auditing with ten to twelve years of audit experience, this role suits you. At least five years must be in a leadership role, ideally within the life insurance sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Derive and complete the annual audit plan for Hong Kong

• Ensure high quality audit assessments are completed on time

• Provide insights to senior management based on audit findings

• Perform and oversee internal audit work according to department standards

• Conduct risk and control assessments of the business using audit work, continuous monitoring, and other sources

• Compile reports detailing the effectiveness of internal controls

• Identify areas for improvement and recommend actionable steps

• Manage execution of audits with focus on highest risk areas

• Evaluate the effectiveness of controls on an ongoing basis

• Track audit findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly

• Report on the status of corrective actions

• Identify systemic issues and emerging risk and control concerns

• Continuously assess potential business risks

• Stay updated on emerging risks and adjust audit plans accordingly

• Collaborate with regional and local stakeholders to align audit activities with business objectives and regulatory requirements

• Support internal audit strategic initiatives and change management within the team

• Build the team to achieve higher performance levels

• Develop and implement innovative solutions to achieve audit best practices

• Attract, build, lead, and retain high performing talent

• Proactively develop and enhance team skillsets

• Stay current with developments in auditing and the insurance industry

• Apply knowledge to improve business and audit processes

Qualifications

• University degree in Accounting or Auditing

• CPA, CA, CIA, or CISA designation is preferred

• Ten to twelve years of audit experience (internal or external)

• At least five years in a leadership role, ideally within the life insurance sector

• Proficiency in audit and data tools such as AI, Archer, ACL, or Tableau

• Strong data analytics capabilities

• Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills

• Deep expertise in audit methodologies and regulatory frameworks

• Ability to foster accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement

The monthly salary for this Head of Internal Audit role ranges from HKD 90000 to HKD 130000. Your experience and qualifications determine the exact amount.
