About the role
WesTrac is on the lookout for Auto Electricians to join our General Workshop Rebuilds team at the Tomago branch. This position plays an important role in the building, repair & maintenance of heavy mobile plant equipment. You will work on a variety of auto electrical systems and components, diagnose issues, and perform repairs, maintenance, and installations on CAT machinery including Off-Highway Trucks (OHTs), Dozers, Graders, and Drills.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and Troubleshoot Faults
- Accurately diagnose electrical issues on Caterpillar mining machinery using advanced diagnostic tools such as ET
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults promptly
- Electrical Overhauls
- Replace OEM and DPO harnesses with precision, ensuring all connections are secure and comply with MDG standards
- Conduct thorough inspections of harnesses to prevent future electrical issues
- Repair, and upgrade electrical systems in accordance with OEM and DPO specifications
- Compliance with MDG Standards
- Ensure all electrical work meets or exceeds Mining Design Guidelines (MDG) standards
- Collaborate with WesTrac’s quality assurance guidelines and implement best practices for compliance
- Quality Assurance
- Maintain high-quality standards in all electrical repair and maintenance tasks
- Document all work performed and provide detailed handovers and parts lists
- Emphasis on safety
- Maintain a strong focus on safety protocols to prevent accidents and uphold a safe working environment
Skills & Experience
- Trade qualified Auto Electrician with post trade experience and/or industry experience
- Caterpillar equipment experience and product knowledge desired
- Experience with Auto Electrical fault finding and diagnostics
- Dedicated to maintaining safe work practices and environment
- Highly organised with the ability to adapt to changing workloads
