CALHN Emergency Medicine Job In New Zealand

Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) are seeking an CALHN emergency medicine professional to join their team in Wellington Central, New Zealand. This position play a pivotal role as an major trauma centre for the state, managing over 1700 trauma patients annually, many of whom have serious injuries. The emergency department (ED) at Queen Elizabeth hospital (QEH) handles approximately 125 patients per day, encompassing a diverse case-mix, including paediatrics and gynaecology. The ideal candidate will posses the ability to provide clinical guidance and supervision to registrars and medical officers. This full-time role requires the ability to work 16-hour shifts, offering a competitive salary range of $146,555 – $152,416 year. It must have ability to provide best healthcare within the hospital. It must have excellent verbal and written communication skill to communicate with patient and their families.

Qualifications for Emergency Medicine:

  • Candidate must have board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine.
  • Current medical registration or eligibility for registration in New Zealand.
  • Experience in providing clinical guidance and supervision to junior medical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality healthcare in a fast-paced emergency department setting.
  • The 6-month Emergency Medicine Certificate program offers medical officers specialized training, enhancing their skills and career prospects in emergency care, a key focus area within healthcare.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective patient interaction and team collaboration.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and education in emergency medicine within the hospital.

Responsibilities for Emergency Medicine:

  • Providing clinical guidance and supervision to registrars and medical officers.
  • Participating in patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Overseeing complex cases and providing expert advice on management strategies.
  • Conducting teaching sessions and educational activities for junior medical staff and students.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.

A new upgrade is in progress to include a new ED wing, in addition to new operating theatres, day surgery suite, outpatient clinics, medical imaging services and intensive care unit.
