Cleaner-PT WCH Job in Downer, Australia

Downer is a leading provider of integrated facilities services across Australia and New Zealand. Our Health and Education (H&E) line of business provides comprehensive operational and maintenance services to various healthcare and educational facilities. We are currently seeking a dedicated Cleaner to join our team at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital (WCH) in Adelaide.

About the Role:

As part of our team at WCH, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the hospital is clean and well-maintained, providing a safe and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You will work closely with other team members to undertake a range of cleaning services in line with hospital infection control standards and Downer policies. This position requires you to work autonomously and as part of a team, ensuring high cleaning standards are met in a healthcare environment.

This is a part time opportunity, you must be available to work Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 10:00am

• Perform general cleaning duties, including floor care, dusting, wiping, and spot cleaning of walls, doors, bathrooms, and isolation areas.
• Ensure that all necessary cleaning supplies are available and maintain all equipment in good working order.
• Respond promptly to service requests and ensure adherence to the hospital’s infection control policies and procedures.
• Uphold workplace health and safety standards, proactively identifying and reporting hazards or incidents.
• Actively participate in Zero Harm initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all.

About you:

• Previous experience in cleaning within a healthcare environment (preferred).
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and procedures.
• Understanding of infection control practices and workplace health and safety.
• Strong attention to detail, high cleaning standards, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to work across a range of shifts and adapt to varying start and finish times.
• Ability to function autonomously while maintaining high levels of professionalism, courtesy, and empathy when interacting with patients and staff.
