About the Role
As a Crop Farm Worker at BTS Packing Shed, you’ll play a vital role in the daily operations of our horticultural activities, focusing on the picking, packing, and grading of melons and pumpkins. This full-time role involves a mix of hands-on tasks in the packing shed and on the farm, including forklift operation, equipment maintenance, and general farm duties. You’ll work in a team-oriented environment, adhering to strict WHS and safe work practices, with a zero-tolerance policy for intoxication. The role is physically demanding and requires working in Kununurra’s extreme climate, often exceeding 40°C with high humidity, making physical fitness essential.
Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day tasks will include:

Crop Handling: Pick, pack, and grade melons and pumpkins to meet quality standards.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of box and pallet numbers for inventory and production tracking.

Forklift Operation: Use forklifts to load and unload fruit pallets and bins, ensuring safe and efficient handling.

Maintenance and Cleaning: Clean and maintain shed infrastructure, forklifts, grading machines, vehicles, and tractors to ensure operational reliability.

Farm Duties: Assist with tasks such as chipping weeds, operating tractors, and other general farm activities as required.

Safety Compliance: Actively participate in WHS initiatives and adhere to safe work practices at all times.

Flexibility: Perform additional farm and shed duties as directed to support team goals.

Essential Requirements:

Education: Completion of secondary school.

Experience: At least one year of full-time relevant experience as a Crop Farm Worker.

Driver’s License: Valid Australian Driver’s License.

Physical Fitness: Ability to perform manual labor in high temperatures and humid conditions.

Citizenship: Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Clearances: Willingness to obtain a Police Clearance and participate in drug and alcohol testing if requested by the employer.

Commitment: Genuine dedication to full-time employment in a regional setting.
Desirable Qualifications:

Tractor Experience: Prior experience operating tractors.
