Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and maintain waste collection vehicles, such as side-lift, front-lift, rear-lift, skip, or hook-lift trucks, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
- Collect waste from various locations, including commercial sites, councils, and industrial clients, adhering to strict safety and hygiene standards.
- Perform daily vehicle safety checks and complete required paperwork, including driver diaries, in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
- Communicate effectively with customers to confirm collection schedules and maintain high service standards.
- Adhere to workplace health and safety protocols, including safe manual handling of waste materials and compliance with site-specific requirements (e.g., PPE and sign-in procedures).
- Contribute to a clean and organized depot environment through good housekeeping practices.
- Assist with loading and unloading waste materials as needed, ensuring careful handling to prevent damage or safety risks.
Requirements:
- A current Heavy Rigid (HR) driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of six months’ experience operating specialized waste collection vehicles (e.g., side-loader, front-lift, rear-lift, skip, or hook-lift trucks).
- Proficiency in operating collection systems and related mechanical operations.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety practices, including safe manual handling of potentially heavy loads.
- Excellent communication skills, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work early starts and additional hours, including overtime, as required.
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment and, if required, a police check.
- Evidence of working rights in Australia.
