Open Pit Labourer Required In Newmont Mining, Canada

Essential Duties

• Perform clean up, general pit duties and operation of tandem water truck to service drills.
• Transport Drillers to their work site/drill.
• Stock drills with bits, pickets, bags, tags, and casings.
• Bring old and/or damaged bits and hammers to C-can for pick up.
• Stock pickup truck with supplies required for the remainder of the day.
• Spend 2-3 hours cutting and bagging casings for the shift/cross-shift.
• Perform rounds to each drill throughout the day, restocking as needed.
• Change hammers and bits for drillers when needed.
• Perform 2-3 sample runs per shift.
• Sample, tape, and case drilled holes in non-restricted.
• Run errands as requested by the Drillers, Supervisors and Operation and D&B coordinator.
• Stock the lunchroom with water, paperwork, supplies and tidy as needed.

Essential Duties Continued

• Communicate stock shortages to Drill Blast Supervisor (casings, shackles, bottles, pickets, etc).
• Transport drillers to and from the lunchroom.
• Restock drills for cross-shift.
• Clean and refuel pickup truck.
• Assist in changing bits.
• Assist in cleaning of shovel and drill tracks.
• Duties are not limited to those listed above and may vary by shift.

Experience

• Minimum Secondary School Diploma
• High level of organizational skills
• Be technically competent
• Willing to learn

Working Conditions

• This position is located at Dome, part of Newmont’s Porcupine mine site near Timmins, ON.
• In this role, you will work a 5x5x4 schedule.
