The opportunity:
Join our Visy Paper Mill 2 team in Reservoir, Melbourne, one of five Visy Recycle Pulp & Paper mills located across Australia. This is a permanent full-time position, working on a rotating roster of 12-hour shifts, 4 days on 4 days off. As a Paper Machine Operator, you will play a vital role, operating a Paper Machine and its ancillary equipment to meet agreed production, service and quality standards. Reporting to the Production manager your key responsibilities will include:
- Being fully conversant on all aspects of machine operation including winding and finishing, quality processes and systems.
- Ensuring equipment is correctly maintained and maintenance is performed regularly.
- Maintain safe work and operating practices, and a high level of housekeeping at all times.
- Regularly review work processes and assist in identifying improvements.
What you will bring to the team:
As our new Paper Machine Operator, you will have prior experience, operating machinery within an industrial/manufacturing environment. You have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to work well as a team and independently. You have good written and communication skills and processes a strong focus on Health, Safety and Environmental practices. Along with the following:
- A mechanical aptitude is essential, and a trade/ technical qualification is highly regarded.
- Qualifications – HNC Paper Technology would be a distinct advantage.
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating roster – 4 shifts on, 4 days off!
- Experience operating a forklift and hold a current forklift licence, is essential.
- A problem solver with good attention to detail and an eye for accuracy.
- Proven ability to work in a physically demanding and fast paced environment.
