Our Permit to Teach Program is an employment-based pathway for aspiring students completing an initial teacher education (ITE) course. You’ll receive pay and conditions are among the nation’s leading public school teacher salary packages and gain invaluable experience in an ACT public school.

All ACT public schools teach the newest version of the Australian Curriculum (V9.0) from kindergarten to year 10. The Strong Foundations initiative strengthens our approach to literacy and numeracy for better student outcomes and workloads for teachers and school leaders.
In ACT public schools, you can teach in a range of school settings, including preschool to year 6 primary schools, years 7 to 10 high schools, larger preschool to year 10 schools and in colleges teaching years 11 and 12.
About you:
- Have a passion for teaching and education and support a student-centered approach to learning.
- Have the drive and enthusiasm to teach across a broad age and ability range.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and/or Early Years Learning Framework.
- Have positive classroom management skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Can establish and foster relationships with students, staff and parents/careers.
- Are committed to supporting the wellbeing of students.

Eligibility requirements
To be able to apply for an offer of conditional employment:
Be in the third year or fourth year of an undergraduate OR second year masters of an approved Initial Teacher Education course (https://www.aitsl.edu.au/deliver-ite-programs/apl)
Be an Australian citizen and/or be permanent resident and/or hold a valid student visa.
