
Irving
We currently have an opportunity within our operation for a Process Operator at Irving Paper in Saint John, NB. As a Process Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment around the Paper Mill. Site operations are 24/7 and shift work will be required. We offer competitive wages.
Responsibilities
- Maintain chip supply to the mill by means of operating a front-end loader
- Manage the following bunkers as required: pin chips, scrap thickener, fines & knots, and sludge; transport these materials to appropriate piles in the Chipyard while minimizing the spread of these materials along the roads around the mill
- Monitor and manage chip pile inventories
- Work closely with Woodlands operations to optimize truck and rail chip unloading
- Maintain housekeeping standards in multiple work areas including the chip reclaim building
- Load sludge trucks and pins/fines trucks as required to maintain inventories of these materials at or below maximum allowable levels
- Troubleshoot operational problems with truck dumpers, reclaim hoppers and chip handling equipment in the chip reclaim building
- Recognize responsibilities associated with Irving Paper’s Environmental Management System
Qualifications
- Education Required: Heavy Equipment Operator (6 week course)
- Years of Experience Required: 2-5 years
- Must be medically fit, willing, and capable of performing manual labor
- Must have good organization skills
- Must have good communication skills
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
