Overview
Ensure that Lafarge products meet required specifications. Assist in the implementation of best practices and techniques in quality and blend optimization. The role of the position aims to support all levels of operations in establishing and achieving quality objectives, working closely with operations and management.
Responsibilities
- Health and Safety:
- Assist in the implementation and compliance of Lafarge’s safety program aimed at the safe work of personnel, in accordance with its policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all aspects of your role comply with safety regulations.
- Complies with safety guidelines on Lafarge construction sites and operating sites.
Environment:
- Make the environment a priority in daily activities and act as an environmental steward.
- Demonstrate a commitment to meeting or exceeding environmental compliance.
- Customer orientation:
- Ensure good customer relations are maintained.
- Be able to communicate effectively with customers.
- Provide support to customers to understand concerns and resolve quality issues in the field, in conjunction with the QC Manager.
- Quality Control and Quality Assurance:
- Perform and document quality control testing in accordance with local or national standards (CSA, ACI, ASTM).
- Ability to conduct quality control testing without immediate supervision and within accuracy standards established by CSA, ASTM and ACI.
- Maintain documentation of all tests performed at the factory and on site. Interpret test results and recommend modifications as necessary.
- Maintain communication with the relevant Lafarge batcher regarding concrete entrained air measurements determined at the site and any modifications to the batching.
- Carry out slump and air tests, manufacture of concrete cylinders directly on site, in addition to laboratory tests on compressive strength and sieving analysis of aggregates.
- Be responsible for ongoing maintenance, calibration and recording of equipment tests.
Materials and specifications:
- Ensure the quality of materials through active testing of raw materials.
- Sampling of raw materials for laboratory verification and making blending adjustments (at the plant or in the field) using admixtures as required.
- Involvement in associations:
- Pass the 1 – ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1 certification Pass the CCIL (Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories) Concrete Testing Technician certification
- Relations with other positions :
- Quality Control Technician Supervisor
- Works closely with plant personnel (feeders, loader operators and drivers)
- Specific responsibilities :
- “Zero” safety performance target.
- Responsible for achieving established KPIs, i.e., safety, service, volume delivered.
