Your Role
- You are part of the Operations & Service Group and report to the AB Field Operations Manager. This team is responsible for the
- strategy of keeping our people safe and for delivering on the promise we make to our customers. Operations & Service is made up
- of LIC’s core production laboratories, farming operations and the field teams (AB and Herd Testing) who deliver LIC’s product on
- farm.
- This role is accountable in a specific region of New Zealand for ensuring adherence to the National AB Standards plus providing
- support and direction for the Waikato AB Base Logistics Supervisor ensuring the management, performance, recruitment,
- coaching, training, development and manage technical performance of the LIC Technician Service, while managing the logistics
- and delivery service to ensure organizational efficiencies while managing cost.
- This position has 1 full time direct report (Christchurch and Waikato only) and is responsible for up to 250 AB Field staff during the
- AB season.
Your Key Focus
- Accountable for all aspects of the identification, recruitment and training of trainee AB technicians to ensure they deliver the
service required to meet LIC’s objectives for Artificial Insemination and may have a specific focus to their role, to complement
their specific skills (e.g.: Training, Data MATE, Supervision, Health & Safety, and Communications).. - Manage the identification, recruitment and training of AB Supervisors and technician (trainees, apprentices, technicians,
technician assistants, drivers, base staff), and ensure NZQA standards are adhered to. - Manage the AB Supervisors who are responsible for the technical performance of all seasonal AB field staff (around 250 per
RABOM). - Accountable for group make-up and service quality issues pertaining to cost. Accountable for delivering monthly and annual
operating and capital forecasts within their regions as set out in the financial budgeting protocols. - Manage the logistical Semen and AB equipment delivery systems and procedures and continually improve them to deliver a
low cost high quality AB delivery service. Manage AB Base Supervisors to plan AB routes, and the use of delivery drivers and
vehicles to ensure effective and efficient service delivery. - Ownership of the Quality system for the Technician Service.
- Work closely with the wider LIC business to develop and successfully implement improvements to AB product and service.
Your Key Skills & Experience
- A tertiary qualification in Agribusiness or Commerce would be an advantage.
- Proven experience and a high level of understanding of the Dairy and Farming industry.
- Be able to demonstrate leadership in the area of driving a commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of LIC employees.
- Proven experience in managing staff
- Organizational, operational, budget and time management skills
- Computer literacy (LIC internal systems / Excel/ Word)
- Knowledge and experience of Artificial Breeding techniques and processes would be an advantage
- Knowledge and ability to analyze and interpret data and make recommendations on the technical performance of AB
technicians. - Understand the basic engineering principles for safe AB facilities.
