The Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer (OCNMO) is responsible for the provision of professional and strategic leadership for the nursing and midwifery professions within ACT Health Directorate, Canberra Health Services and across the Territory; collaborating and providing advice to the ACT Government regarding nursing and midwifery related matters; assisting in the delivery of workforce reforms, workforce planning, professional educations; strengthening and developing nursing and midwifery services through innovative models of care and service delivery; representing the ACT Government and ACT health system at national forums; and ensuring the future capability of the nursing and midwifery professions both locally and nationally.
The OCNMO has an opportunity for two positions – Registered Nurse and a Midwife to join its team, to support the ADON/m and Senior Nursing and Midwifery Advisors in a government setting. The RN/M 3.1 will work with the team of nursing and midwifery advisers to research professional agendas, provide policy, strategic and professional support to the Advisory group and inform advice for the ACT Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer.

Requirements
- Have a minimum of three years’ experience in a nursing or midwifery setting.
- Hold and maintain AHPRA registration as a nurse and/or midwife.
- A post graduate tertiary qualification in nursing, midwifery, management or project management is highly desirable.
- Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
- Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of up to six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
