The Residential Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transporting to post-collection facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate collection truck and equipment.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness.
- Communicate mechanical issues with the supervisor.
- Identify prohibited waste and manage any hazardous materials.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures.
- Keep records of services performed, including daily truck reports, and work closely with supervisors to ensure quality standards.
- May need to work overtime or assist in route optimization.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Licensing: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
- Experience: Minimum one year of commercial driving experience or completion of CDL school.
- Physical Ability: Must meet physical demands like lifting, maneuvering in tight spaces, and safely operating equipment.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to operate equipment and recognize waste disposal issues.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic understanding of safety and maintenance procedures for equipment.
- Ability to perform tasks involving manual labor, such as lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
Physical/Mental Demands:
- Ability to perform tasks like walking, climbing, kneeling, and lifting.
- Visual demands due to driving in high-traffic areas.
- Ability to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, or rain.
- Frequent noise and the need to work near moving vehicles.
- Continuous outdoor work with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions.
