Residential Youth Worker, New Zealand

Oranga Tamariki is seeking for residential youth worker to join their team in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand. The ideal candidate must have ability to provide day-to-day care for the youth residing at the facility. Oranga tamariki is dedicated to enhancing the future prospects of tamariki through the time they spend in our residences. Candidate must be willing to work a roster that covers morning, evenings, weekends and public holidays.  This fixed term position offers a competitive salary range from $45,000 to $60,000 per year. Applicant must have previous working experience with at- risk youth and in a residential care setting.

Qualification for Residential Youth Worker:

• Candidate must have qualification in youth work, social work and psychology.
• Previous experience working with at- risk youth and in a residential care setting.
• Experience in behaviour management and therapeutic interventions.
• Ability to build rapport and establish trust with youth.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.

Responsibilities for Residential Youth Worker:

• Candidate is responsible for providing day-to-day care for the youth residing at the facility.
• Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of residents.
• Supervise and engage with youth during daily routines and activities.
• Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents and program reports.
