ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
- Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Conduct employee appraisals and evaluations.
- Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Direct workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
- Direct workers in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
- Ensure adequate staffing and training of new employees.
- Ensure forklift operations are in accordance with company policy.
- Establish daily work schedules.
- Implement McCain Competitive Edge and Lean Manufacturing practices relative to Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People (SQCDP).
- Initiate and conduct the department to reinforce Health and Safety, company policies, and otherwise impart the knowledge and information necessary for personnel to carry out their responsibilities.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assign duties.
- Keep workshop and other areas clean, orderly, and safe.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Perform activities of workers supervised.
- Provide direction to maintenance team at pre-shift meetings and is available on-site to effectively direct, guide, and counsel employees.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Requisition non-stock replacement parts.
- Schedule employee work schedules and vacations.
- Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise all personnel and activities within area of responsibility.

- Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Required Length & Type of Experience:
- One to three years in a leadership role.
