Pioneer Construction is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Supervisor in the Dubreuilville area. The Supervisor will require a high level of motivation, professionalism, and independence. This is a full-time permanent position with competitive wages and a benefits package.

Job Duties

  • Conduct daily safety meetings to ensure awareness and compliance with health and safety policies and project standards.
  • Provide supervision and direction to crew in order to meet quality and production standards
  • Delegate workloads, manage employee schedules, and participate in the creation of the construction workforce through the hiring, training, evaluation, and discipline of workers.
  • Coordinate equipment, labour and trucking with the Superintendent.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required.
  • Safely operate and maintain excavators, front-end loaders, backhoes, and graders as needed.
  • Complete daily inspections, reporting of production, supervisor diary, and timesheets.
  • Perform mandatory pre-op and post-op vehicle inspections.
  • Identify, report and correct hazards.
  • Review and adhere to project schedules.
  • Team player and display professionalism toward our company and customers.
  • Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment.
  • Physical work including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, crouching, climbing, crawling and reaching repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Work schedule consists of 7 days on and 7 days off. Day shifts and night shifts as required.
  • Work in accordance and reinforce compliance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform related duties as required.

Education:

  • Valid G Class Driver’s License is required.
  • Valid certification to operate the required equipment.
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • 5 years’ experience working in the construction industry.
  • Prior experience in a management position is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Successfully passed comprehensive pre-employment third party testing requirements (drug and alcohol testing and a Criminal Background Check (CPIC) and any other requirements they impose on contractors).
  • Ability to plan construction projects by studying plans, coordinating with Project Superintendent, Project Manager and Logistics Coordinator.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints and scopes of work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suites such as Excel and Word.
  • Strong knowledge and experience operating heavy equipment is required.
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
