Job Summary

We are seeking reliable and hardworking Vegetable Farm Workers to support our operations in planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops. This seasonal role involves physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced, outdoor environment. No formal education is required, but prior farming experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Crop Management:

  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops, including carrots and onions.

  • Apply hoeing techniques between rows to maintain crop health.

  • Perform weeding to ensure optimal crop growth.

  • Harvest crops and divide fresh produce into marketable and non-marketable lots.

• General Farm Duties:

  • Load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, farm produce, livestock, and poultry.

  • Clean and maintain work areas, including stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.

  • Maintain farm machinery, equipment, and buildings to ensure operational efficiency.

  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.

• Workspace Maintenance:

  • Keep work areas clean and organized to maintain a safe and efficient environment.

Qualifications

• Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.

• Experience: Previous experience in vegetable farming or general farm work is an asset but not mandatory.

• Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.

  • Manual dexterity for repetitive tasks such as planting and harvesting.

  • Physical capability to handle heavy loads (up to 23 kg/50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and perform bending, crouching, kneeling, and walking.

• Work Environment Adaptability:

  • Comfortable working outdoors in various conditions, including wet/damp, dusty, hot, noisy, or cold/refrigerated environments.

• Eligibility:

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.

  • Must be available for the advertised start date.

  • Preference for candidates residing in proximity to Bradford, ON.

Work Conditions

• Environment: Rural setting with outdoor work in vegetable farming (carrots and onions, excluding potatoes).

• Physical Demands: The role is physically demanding, involving repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, and extended periods of standing, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
